The main responsibility of the State Labour Department is to protect the physical and social interests of the workers through enforcement of various Labour Acts. By doing so, the State gets a competent Labour force efficient and effective for the industrial development. The Department regulates the service of workers by implementing various Labour Acts through an enforcement machinery, so that the salaries and working conditions of the workers are adequate to establish industrial peace.  Department also makes efforts to resolve various industrial disputes. Industrial health and safety are also taken care of by a special wing of the Department so that workers are not victimized to accidents at workplace.
