Ujjain is a Tier 2 city, by population, in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It is the headquarters of both Ujjain district and Ujjain division. A central power city, Ujjain exerts significant influence on commerce, finance, media, arts, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment and has been described as the Religious capital of the state. Located on the southern edge of the Malwa Plateau, the city lies 190 km west of the state capital, Bhopal.
